If the tail was longer I would consider it as a possible cougar sighting
But the tail length suggest it is a coyote.
The Cougar Option however would be a more exciting theory which could lead to a lively debate as to their presents in Ontario

Ok, I think it's likely a cougar. It looks to me a low slung animal with a longish tail. What reinforces it is that a neighbor's wife who is a little more than a mile away saw a cougar on my property last fall. I am not really surprised because there have been many sightings in southern Ontario for years. Our Ministry of Natural Resources says that the Eastern Cougar is extinct and not existent but we aren't allowed to kill one. Go figure! :eusa-deadhorse:

To me , I would say coyote. Black tipped tail seems too bushy for a couger.

Bushy blk tip tail , dead giveaway for coyote ! !

Every yote I've downed or been around had a tail very much like the one in the picture.

Couars dont have a bushy tail ! Lol

I think the black tip tail you guys are seeing are the bottom of the cat's foot.

Yeah it’s a coyote. Take a look at what my spypoint captured last year.

When I first saw it I saw Cougar for sure, black tip, long tail, flat back low stance.

Then I saw a yote. But yotes have that arched back and are not flat on top.

It's definitely not a Moose. I'm sure if that.

It’s a yote. I don’t discount he presence of Mt Lions up there (I have seen one in freakin Massachusetts years ago) but that is NOT a MT lion...
