No Hunting!!

Post by ko4nrbs »

Since I am moving my hunting spot will be available. I asked the landowner about him letting someone else hunt there and he said no way. He told me his neighbors have had very positive comments about me and no complaints. He added that in no way would he risk it with someone else. His mind is made up so I gave up.

Being a good steward doesn’t always pay off for the other guy!!

Too bad it seems you may not have enough time to see if you could bring a buddy to hunt with you and demonstrate that both of you are good risks as hunting guests.

It certainly shows that the land owner thought that no one else would possibly be as respectful as you. Quite a compliment.

He is my fishing buddy and church buddy. I have known him a very long time.

He is worried about his neighbors who warmed up to me pretty slowly. He has them all eating deer sausage now.

Maybe your buddy will have to reverse engineer the relationship by bringing sausages.

..... I think his buddy would have a better chance joining their church, singing in the choir and starting a prayer group!

I understand. I'm not a land owner, but I personally would expect that a hunter or anyone for that matter would treat my land better than I would myself. That's how I operate on my hunting spots. Cleared so many trees and trails lately, but I have not cut my own lawn in who knows how long
I can see that he clearly respects you, but also the neighbors too. Fine line to walk to keep everyone happy. Quite possible he just doesn't want to deal with it. I get it

I can understand the landowner there are so many non respectable people/ hunters out there it’s a shame. I’ve seen thrash, trees cut down by these people that it takes a few to ruin it for the rest. This year where I hunt on a private property the farmer told me he had to spend a couple of hundred dollars to put up several gates to block off entrances due to people coming and parking on his land to camp overnight and leaving early before he makes his runs.
