ATTN: Old stubborn men on this site! Free Harness!
Now that I have your attention
I have an unused but well traveled treestand safety harness I would like to send to anyone who doesn't have one and needs one or is willing to not die.
This harness has traveled in my truck for a few years as my back up. I've never used it, but it hasn't been in a package or anything so it isn't all pretty. It's the style that the strap goes around the tree and you attach to the lanyard on the tree. It is designed for use with LADDER stands harness separates from the lanyard at the harness end not the tree end. So you climb the ladder, stand up, wrap around the tree and then lock in. Then doze off safely.
It is a wide thick web Gorilla brand. One of the clasps has a little bit of rust on it but it's esthetic and will probably blow off.
No cost to you, I'll cover shipping in North America if it stops one fall.

I'm 99% sure I have a second somewhere too, but I'll have to find it in my garage. Aka the black hole.

.....I probably have a couple also....these were designed to use when I finally had the time to find a tree locally that I could practice and get comfortable climbing with....that day has yet to arrive...so here I sit broken hearted wanted to climb but that wish darted!

Very kind offer, Janesy. My days of sitting in a swaying tree, puking, are over. I much rather the feel of the ground beneath me. You're a good man who may actually be saving a life. Tip o the hat to you.

Re: ATTN: Old stubborn men on this site!
I have a second harness to send out.
I think I may have worn this one a couple times a few years back. But might not have, I don't know. Either way it's a harness in great shape. Has the tree strap and harness. Might want to add a proper carabeener(sp) for faster hook ups.
Please, if you don't have a harness and you have a brain, please take me up on this offer. Your family will thank you.

Re: ATTN: Old stubborn men on this site!
I confess that I have never worn a harness. When I was younger I hunted from a hang on stand with a folding seat and used screw in steps. My bow was a Hoyt Pro Hunter recurve and I never used a harness. Now, I only hunt from stands that have a shooting rail, and I feel perfectly safe. I'm sure scenarios can be conjured up that would leave me dead but I think I'll be fine.

Re: ATTN: Old stubborn men on this site!
After reading the Never happen to me thread and this thread I dug out my unused safety harnesses and added backup straps to my ladder stands. I am stove up enough without adding a treestand accident to my resume.
Nice of you to think of a fellow hunter Janesy.
Everyone be safe, score big, and remember to share your story and maybe a few pics.
