Scope cleaning

Post by Robinsons Rebel »

What is everybody using to clean the glass on your scope? I' ve been using a lens pen, just wondering if there is anything better out there.

I breathe on it and quickly wipe it with a kleenex. I probably should look into a lens pen.

We're supposed to clean them?

If I'm lucky I notice at home and use a little windex and a soft tissue. More often than not I notice in the field and my shirt tail or shirt sleeve ends up taking care of it.

Before the season and if my scope gets wet I use the cloth that came with it. If I think there is anything abrasive on the glass, I blow it off with a can of compressed air. Been working great for many years!

Most home depot stores and Walmarts sell a brand of aerosol window cleaner called sprayaway it's got a little lady on the blue n white can.
We use it for work on windows but I also use it on everything. I use it on the whole crossbow and even the scope lenses with a soft cotton cloth....hell at home we even dust with the stuff and it cleans marks off of white automobiles better than anything without hurting the paint.
As dan said above most important thing is to blow dust and grit off first so you dont get the sandpaper effect going on.

Beat me to it. I was going to say, nobody appreciates clean glass more than Norm. Spotless optics everytime.

The PECA kit is great, perfect size to bring with you.
