Which bow would y’all recommend for a youth hunter. Is the short model the best or do y’all recommend another model
Matrix 380
Triggertech Matrix Hunter
Matrix Munch Mount
2012 Vortex

308 short series are great. Although they don't weigh any less than a regular micro.
But after the youth grows a bit you can easily replace the short stock with e regular sized micro stock and keep on hunting

See if you can find a used vixen 2 or sapphire that would be my choices or the 308 also.
The vixen would be the easiest to cock for a kid.
Vixen 2, metal ibex,Phoenix, sapphire, matrix 330 ,matrix 355 ,vortex and baby grand piano y25 relayer.
Trigger tecs, leupold crossbones and nikon bolts.
Zombie slayers and mostly swat broadheads.

Yep all 3 of those you mentioned are the only models I'm aware of that have a shorter LOP for a kid (other than the Assassin adjustable stock).

308 Short would be too hard for most kids to rope cock though.

How big of a youth hunter are we talking about though? The regular LOP on the micro, bulldog, or matrix stocks may be ok and with room to grown into.

I have a Cub and it seems like that model would be good as well.
However, Im not sure they make them anymore.

I guess they do still make the Matrix Cub as I have found a few on the internet.
Hope that helps.
Good luck.

Thanks all. I’m leaning towards the 308 but my son is 10 so I might have to be the one cocking it for him but that is ok for me.

You can always add the butt stock extender to the 308 Short stock later on too. Or replace it with a regular Micro stock like Janesy said. Just have to drill an tap a couple different 10-32 holes in the rail to do that. Easy.

Oh yeah I forgot about the matrix cub. They're not in production anymore as far as I know, but that's probably new old stock you're seeing.

If you're doing the cocking I'd go with a Micro 335 or a Micro 315. My grandsons have killed several deer with the Micro 335's sitting on a Caldwell Dead Shot Field Pod

They grow fast , if it was me I would look at the 340 Mag , you can't beat the price and it will serve him for a long while.
