Being to Nervous or to picky with limb deformations

Post by okie143 »

I seem to be too picky with limb deformations or at least too nervous to have a limb bolted onto my crossbow with any form of deformity. Last time it was a large 3" deformation running on top of the limb where it bolts onto the crossbow. Now it is a deformation or splinter from drilling the hole in the limb.

Here is some pictures of what I am talking about. You be the judge.

Save your pictures for future reference, then bolt em on and send arrows down range. Those are definite flaws, but they are under the compressed bolted and washer area and I can't imagine that being a reliability issue. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong though.

This is the 3rd set of limbs I have received from Excalibur with my originals splintering, 1 replacement set has major deformity over 3" long, now this set has a deformity where the strength of the limb bolts onto the crossbow.

I am sure it would shoot for awhile but don't want to be in woods and here a major crack noise. Just picky that way I guess.

My 400 Suppressor limbs came similar to that on the underside that made me curious. I ended up talking to the limb maker and engineer and was told that an impression is made there for stress relief. I’m unsure that yours are the same but either way, it won’t effect the limbs. If is a defect, any stress stops at the limb bolt hole.
