Broken vs cracked limbs
Never had it happen with my Vortex (and never will ), and have been told it won't happen with Matrix 355 and "probably not" with Matrix 380.
But exactly when do limbs break? I've read numerous threads about limbs needing replacement, but many were delaminating and not necessarily broken.
When have you noticed yours cracked/broken:
(A) When you pull it out of storage closet (presumable string remain installed)
(B) When you draw string back
(C) After releasing the trigger and limbs snap back
Be specific about broken (totally separated) vs cracked vs delaminated/splintered. Of course, not all splinters are terminal and lead to limb replacement (perhaps that should be option D).
Photos always appreciated.

Re: Broken vs cracked limbs
The first splintered limb I had on an Excalibur was on my Vortex. No dry fires or partial dry fires either just a splintered limb. I broke it off and shot it that way for almost 2 years shooting pretty much daily.

Re: Broken vs cracked limbs
Never had any limb issues with my 310, and doubt I ever will.
But if anything should ever happen it's nice to know I will be quickly taken care of.

The good side of this was having 4 more crossbows waiting their turns. No lost hunting days
Re: Broken vs cracked limbs
Vixen, when did that break on you? During cocking, or after release?
Re: Broken vs cracked limbs
I’d like to know if flemish stringed crossbows causes more cracked, splintered or broken limbs than compared with stock xbow strings? Just wondering?

Re: Broken vs cracked limbs
Had a splinter on a Micro 355. a section about 1/2 pulled loose. Clipped it off and shot the bow with the small splinter for about another 18 months before it finally gave up "the ghost" and slowly folded over one day. No exploding. No pieces flying everywhere. It was all in slow-motion!!
About an hour later I had replaced BOTH limbs, re-sighted it and was BACK in the deer stand!!
Can't do that with a "pulley bow"!!!!

Re: Broken vs cracked limbs
Right after firing the trigger, the (right)top of a limb broke totally off (years ago, having a M380) Probably a too big loop of the string caused it, that widens over time.

Re: Broken vs cracked limbs
I had 1 splinter on an Equinox ,snipped it off and shot the heck out of it for years before selling it to buy my 350se matrix.
I am sure that bow is still going strong to this day.
