Grim Reaper pro series

Post by antelope600 »

Just wondering if anyone has tried them? I have been using the spitfires and am fairly confident I had two open in flight last year. I don't want to band them and did some research on the new grim reapers but want to get any feedback you guys might have. I finally drew my 1st elk license in Wyoming after 13 years of preference points and feel a bit crazy making a broadhead change. I also found out that the spitfires are not made in USA anymore.

I am Slick Trick guy myself, but I just watched this yesterday. He discussed the top three fixed & mechanicals companies. Some comments support Grim Reaper being his first mechanical choice for archery.

Take a look at the US made SWAT heads.

SWAT heads were used in the Temagami bear hunt a few threads down on this page with photos.

Antelope600, SWAT uses a heavy duty mil strap that prevents premature opening at any arrow speed and I have tested them over 500 fps out of fast Scorpyd xbow.

Tip- when using mechanicals broadheads of any kind or manufacturer DO NOT take a quartering to shoulder shot since the shoulder may stop large cut mechanicals. Broadside or quartering away is your best shot always.

Below is a photo of an SWAT A4 buried in tree to the insert.
I cut down the tree to retrieve the head and after a lengthy dry period I chiseled it open to find no blades bent or broken.

They work, and the holes on entry in the case of a non-pass thru shot, no worries! That buck in photo 2 was tumbling within 60 yards, and may have made 100 yards. His stomach plugged the huge hole in his side. The entry was in front of his stomach on a very steep angle, the other pic is a doe that went 20 yards, the opposite shoulder had all 4 blades buried into it, could not remove in the field!! I likey!
