My rut weather stinks!

Post by Riflemanz »

Just had 50 mph wind gusts with rain.It was 61* and now it dropped to 56*
I guess I'll go out in the morning when it's supposed to be 39* and I
hope that kicks them into gear!

X 3.

It was 60+F and windy this morning. It'll almost reach 80F this afternoon. I think I'll join the deer and sit this afternoon out.

WHAT RUT, we aren't finding hardly any scrapes, and when we do, they are small with rubs on trees about the size of your index finger. We are still seeing buck together, looks like the rut will be late this year in our area. Just did read something promising though, the body shops are noticing a recent increase in car/deer collisions, looks like they are finally starting to be on the move!

Been too warm for too long here in Ontario. The does started to show up last week and a couple of bucks just showed up this morning. I'll get up to 9 does but so far I've only seen at a time. They seem to be a few weeks later than last year.

No activity here...yet. but it's been awful weather. Last night we had multiple storms roll thru East Texas with several Tornados touching down.
Today was opening day of "Rifle Season".
Glad I was NOT in the woods!!

80° & high winds killed ALL activity in the woods today  . A few red tail hawks gliding through hunting a meal was all I saw.

Yesterday was the first rifle season doe day for my area. Being on a Saturday I really expected to hear shots going on all morning. I only heard 3 shots the entire morning and 2 were apparently from the same rifle. Out of 3 people (including me) on my club not a single doe was seen and only 1 small buck. It was in the low 60s at first light. I was seeing from 2 to 28 does per day and have not seen any for 3 days in a row. Usually the young bucks are running the does from the 3rd week of Oct to now when the big boys come out to play but I haven't seen more than 2 to 3 chases this year. It is a really strange year.

It wasn't a bad day to be in the Ontario woods yesterday regardless of the wind and warm weather :D

Had three deer withing shooting distance, the spiker trailing a couple does got the SWAT XMAG through the lungs falling in sight.

Congrats. That's just how we hope it will go.

I just got back from moving a camera. I took my muzzleloader just in case a deer went crazy. It was 75F and I was in shorts and a T-shirt. It's been a few days since we saw anything on camera during daylight hours.
