Premature wear of crank rope

Post by PaulSpain »

The crossbow will have less than 100 shots.
Is it normal for a thread to have broken so soon? Why could it have happened?

The rest of the rope seems to hold up well to the pull, but it's a little scary for me.
What would you recommend, change it immediately?
It would hurt me to have to send it to Canada right now...

I've seen that on a 420. Same spot. I haven't opened it yet, but it looks to me like there is a spot inside that may have a bur or a rough edge.
With that said, I was advised to send it back right away, but that was this time last year and it has been hunted with all season so far with no adverse effects. It will go back in January

I would burn those tag ends down even with the rest of the rope and use it keeping an eye on it for more wear. You can get a piece of lawn mower crank cord at about any hardware store and replace the rope if needed.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen.
For now I do not want to open it so as not to void the warranty.
I'll continue with him if he doesn't go further. And if I see that the degradation is progressing, it will be the perfect excuse to send it under warranty and buy the axe340... :eusa-think: :eusa-whistle:
