Broadhead selection
My Vortex with a 400 gr goes about 305fps... thinking of going 125gr. What broadhead do you all like for slightly sub 300fps and 425gr arrow weight?
Re: Broadhead selection
That's still plenty of speed for a pass through on a whitetail with a decent shot and a good sharp broadhead. A good 125gr fixed blade would maximize your penetration and should fly well given your total weight. The Tooth of the Arrow 4-blade is a mean, accurate and durable option. If a 3-blade suits your fancy, the QAD Exodus is also excellent.

Re: Broadhead selection
VPA 3 blade in 150 or even 200 would perform fantastic

Re: Broadhead selection
I like the idea of replaceable blades. Been doing a lot of searching this morning and pretty much settled on the QAD exodus. Already contacted them to see which one they recommend for ~300fps 425gr arrow. Full or swept, standard or crossbow.. thanks!

I have been hunting with Slick trick X bow trick Heads for a very long time with great results every year .
I recommend the v150 grain but they make a 125 grain also.
A very tuff and true flying head with replaceable blades that are very sharp out of the package.

Re: Broadhead selection
I made some arrows for a friend a couple years back. They were Executioners, about 450grn with a 125 Wasp Drone. They were leaving the bow at 284FPS I don't remember what bow it was, but it was a long limber. Pretty sure it was a Vortex, it still had the 305 sticker on it.
He had a complete pass-through on a bull moose about a week later.

Lusk is a great reviewer! Unfortunately here isn't enough time and animals to do real life testing on every broadhead but he does well.

Re: Broadhead selection
All broadheads kill deer Do you enjoy looking on your hands and knees for blood that could effect your broadhead choices.Tiny 1 inch fixed blades are great for testing your blood tracking skills especially at night.
The xact cut, superfreaks, and swat A-4 have all been very good performing broadheads for me with no sight changes from a field point.
A budget choice would be a cabellas lazerstrike 2 coming in at 19 bucks for 3 a very deadly expandable head for that price who would replace a blade.

Re: Broadhead selection
I used XACT out of my Grizzly and have switched to Trailblazers to have a little wider cut. They fly great and do the job. I even had an XACT broadhead go through a boar hog shoulder.
