New Exomax in TN

Post by hoop235 »

Well, I did it!! I bought an Exomax last night complete with the scope kit and went home and put it together. Did not have time to shoot it  But can't wait until I get home tonight! :D I've been reading the forum now for a couple of months (Since Tennessee allowed crossbows during archery season) and have really enjoyed and appreciated the thoughts and information that is available here. My question is, can I expect my new Max with the Gold Tips, 100grain field points and Fast Flight string supplied with the kit to shoot 350FPS??? I have a friend that just bought an Exocet with the scope kit also. He is only getting 323FPS with the same setup as I'm going to use. Is 323FPS for a new Exocet a good figure or should we have 330FPS as advertised?? Are the FPS figures used to advertise these X-bows with the Gold Tips and points supplied with the kit??

I was getting 354 fps with my Max strung with a fff string and shooting the Gold Tip Laser II bolts fletched with 4" duravanes and tipped a 100 grain head. Does he have a fast flight flemish string on his bow or an Excel string?

I think that's where your getting the fps difference.

He has the fff string. Maybe we have a cronograph problem?

Maybe..

What's his brace height set at?... It should be set at 1 1/8 to get the best performance out of it....

Uhhh??? Good question, I'll have to find out. I will try to take my Max and his Exocet to another store so we can eliminate the the cronograph as the culprit.

The brace height means alot.

Say you were to set your brace height at let's say 2", you'd loose anywhere from 8 to 12 fps depending on the model of the bow...

BTW, Enjoy the new toy!...
