I'll look into some of those! How effective are they...ever used any?? (Anyone?)
Just been for a walk into the wooded area of the property, and came accross this dollop!!!
Not like the last scat I found there, but surely a bears eh??? No apples in this one...mostly greenery!

PS. Can a bear be killed as varmin on private property? I seem to remember the info I got before moving down here said anything except moose & deer...but I could be wrong.

You may want to invest in some type of "bear proof" housing for your camera if you plan on keeping it set up over looking the apples. A curious bear or one that gets pissed off because some light keeps flashing in its face can turn your camera into dust!!!!

Don't know about bears, as they are rare in my area, but I'd sure not put out edibles near the house! I'd bear-proof the garbage cans, and avoid leaving anything it might find tasty outside. I'd guess if there is no food around it will soon move on.
