im not an archery pro at all but heres what i know.

i dont think it matters accuracy wise if your shooting carbons or aluminum wether your using a field point or broadhead.

aluminum bolts are quieter than carbon

carbon bolts have memory so when they bend they bend right back to being straight. aluminum can be slightly bent and still stay straight but anything major and the arrow will need to be fixed with a straightener.

carbons are tougher. but from what i hear, when they break they really break.

carbon is more expensive but will last longer.

I like to use the saying, "carbons are either straight or their broke!"
I have had aluminums get bent by only a small amount (very difficult to notice without spinning them) and accuracy was destroyed. I've got a bunch of old 2216 arrows on hand, and will make up crossbow arrows from them for target shooting practice, but for hunting I want an arrow I know is going to be straight. Carbons only for hunting for me! (with the crossbow, with a longbow I still like cedar shafts for the weight to gain energy)

I always believed in aluminum till I shot a deer with carbons. I missed with aluminums, which had nothing to do with the bolts, and they where to bent to repair. The carbon went through the deer and buried itself up to the fletchins in dirt and gravel trail. Replace blades and back in quiver.

Bought some Excalibur bolts yesterday and a little note in the box says use furniture polish for easier removal from foam targets but bolts not recommended for 3D targets.(wanted the T puller but was out of stock)

I bought a decoy/target with self healing foam core at the same time and was planning on using these bolts and the new Wasp heads bought with them.

Can anyone tell me why they are not recommended for 3D and maybe a recommendation on furniture polish, since it would seem I'll be in the market for what I assume would be a layered foam target.

Which was on the list anyway, the biggest one, for some long distance fun.

Would carnuba be good?
