Congrats guys.

Re: 2021 Temagami Black Bear report
It's been a few days, back home and settled not. but better late than never.
We had a great hunt. Getting up there Saturday around dinner time left us with some very much needed down time and just general catch up and conversation after such a long 2021 so far. Sunday morning was a slow starting, lots of coffee, big breakie and lots of planning for the upcoming evening hunt. I had thought I would hit the woods right away, but the down time was again very much appreciated to get me into hunt mode, and out of work mode. Went out and checked on a few sites checked a couple potential roads and baits. Had a great day.
Sunday some time around 3-3:30 with my gear loaded I head out to the furthest bait site in the heart of Temagami Crown Land. We have a history of running into bears here, and having them return soon after you leave. So I came up with a plan to go into the site, re-bait if necessary, set my climber on the tree and then leave. Drive down the road and then sneak back in as quietly as possible. My plan didn't work, lol, the bears did not stroll back in like I hoped.
But after sitting watching my honey burner for 3.5 hours. I hear a stick break. And not a small stick. Straight ahead, a couple hundred yards out. And then a second stick and I new someone was coming. I gathered my Micro from the holder and rested it pointed in the direction of the oncoming unknown critter. Then I waited. And waited. Until after a seemingly long time, I saw a black blob lumbering through the bushes about 80 yards ahead. And it kept coming straight on to me, so I lifted the bow and turned on the Tactacam. Until at 40 yards it made a hard right and started to circle the bait through some thick bush. I could only see glimpses of him every now and then. And then like a ghost, he appeared right where he went in and sniffed around before commiting to come to the bait. At that point my arm was falling asleep so I pulled the bow into my shoulder. He noticed, but didn't stop. He continued in to the bait, now at 17 yards. I and I have decided he's a shooter. Waiting for a shot, my only option was if he put his left leg forward to the bait. But if course he lifted his right and do not present any vitals. He knew I was there, or at least he new there was something in the tree that wasn't there a few days before. Now nervous, he decided he should leave. Again in my head I had to decide, if he turned one way I could potentially have a shot, if he went the other, he'd walk. Almost to my surprise, he turned the way I needed him too and all I needed was a leg forward. And at 7:26 he obliged me with a split second opportunity. Which I took.
The arrow smacked with authority and the Bear took off running, only to go silent after 3 seconds. No more noise. So I decided to wait 30 minutes and review the Tactacam footage. Comfortable that the shot was good, I hopped back into my truck and drove out to get service and let the other crew members with service know.
After 1 hour I walked in to see what was what and beat the black night that Temagami brings. Which seems laughable now.
I followed his footprint in a quick circle that lead to him laying at the bottom of a gully, with is arms and legs points straight behind and his head tucked under his chest. He had clearly hit the ground dead but still moving fast. Haha, then I got the best text ever! Jeff had just anchored a bear 30 km away. The black of Temagami night was inevitable now. So out came the battery chain saw and I went at the bush to make a trail as straight out As I could picture in the dark. It took all I had, and was maybe one of the most exhertive workouts of my life, But I got him into the sled, up the gully, to the truck and then somehow into the bed of the truck. Then went back to get all of my gear and tree stand.
It was about 11:30-12 midnight when I came across two trucks on the logging road making their way in to me. A welcome site, because we had stories to tell and the work for the night was just getting started.
We got out the "lie detector" digital scale and the 300 pound bear at any other camp weighed in at a solid 227 pounds. Considering he was bigger than me and didn't fit in the sled, I was thrilled with my physical efforts from hours earlier. After gutting and cleaning him we found the SWAT MOAB left it's perfect mark through both lungs, and caused almost instant death. As you can see in the previously posted pic.
I was able to get decent footage on the Tactacam, which I have edited a few minutes out of me filming bushes and trees. You can watch it here, feel free to copy and paste.

Chris had incredible bow hunter patience on the video! This could be used to educate new bow hunters to wait for the perfect shot!!
