Broadheads for Exocet200

I'm picking up my new Ex200 tonight. I already own 125grain mechanical Spitfires and fixed Thunderheads. I will be shooting 2216 aluminum arrows. Should I buy new broadheads? I notice that Excal sells 100grain Wasps in their bow packages. Please reply ASAP as I need to decide by 4PM tonight.

I'm using GT Laser II bolts with my Exocet 200 - so my setup is slightly different, but 4 bladed Muzzy 100s shoot identical to 100 grain field points out of my xbow. I have some 3 bladed 100s as well but haven't tried them yet. I'll be heading to the woods tomorrow morning with the 4-bladed Muzzys on the end of the bolts. Hope one gets bloody

just my opinion of course....i wouldn't shoot the mechanicals off of the exocet 200...thunderheads will require some additional scope adjustment after the bow is sighted with the same grain field point...(and after that the groups sizes will be a little larger than most)...slick tricks fly basically like a field point...the cut is awesome and the exit holes, well....try one...what excalibur needs to do is start putting the 4 bladed wasps into their bow packages...these "apparently" fly much like a field point and have the extra cutting edge...

all of this, of course from the "cheap seats"...j

ive had GREAT sucess w/ rocket steelheads 100 & 125. five kills so far this year. this was out of a 10 pt.

The 100 grain Slick Tricks shoot exactly like my 100 grain field tips-as far as cutting holes I 've got about a week and hopefully I will be able to let you know about that.They sure look like thet will do the trick though.

Hoop235, I am shooting Sonic 85grs this season. I have already taken 3 wild hogs with them and all looked good performance wise. No broadhead damage,nice wide wound hole, and a great blood trail. One head went through a smaller hogs shoulder blade with basiclly no damage just some chipped blades. It did not blow out the far side though one shoulder was all that it could push through the second shoulder stopped the bolt but it was to late the lungs were gone and the hog dropped in it's tracks.All the other shots were perfect double lunger's. I also have had great success with muzzy 100gr 4 blades the past few seasons and yes the slick tricks are great heads to. I bought a few to try out my dad ended up stealing them to use this season. He does not get to hunt much do to work so 3 slick trick heads should be enough for him for 3 years. I am using montec g5 125gr and they shoot dead on same as target tips. Just make sure you give them a little touch up out of the package cuz they dont come razor sharp.

A little history from my own experience:

I've been using Thunderhead 100's for years with my 55 lb verticals on deer and black bear with 100% results.

When i started shooting my Exocet 5 years ago and using these same broadheads resulted in very poor results. I switched to the NAP 100 Spitfire's and have re-gained 100% results.

I recently upgraded my Exocet to the Exocet 200 and am still getting 100% results with the NAP's.

The big bonus, everyone around here stocks the NAP replacement blades including Le Baron.

Realizing there are alot of great broadheads out there, the NAP's work great with my Exocet and the Thunderheads work great with my vertical, i haven't had a need to try others.

Hard to beat Thunderheads, they spin true and fly as good.
Spitfire's are also a killer broadhead andI have yet to find another broadhead period that flys BETTER, equal yes, but Better is simply not possible.

The real choice you have is what weight head you will use.
There is benefit in shooting a 125 on some crossbows/shafts.
The heavier arrow is quieter, more stable and has a better FOC many times.
Definitely more KE downrange, and a bonus less stress on your bow.

Lighter arrows have only 1 advantage... trajectory. If you do well with Range estimation then this is a moot point. The difference trajectory wise between a 350 grn and 500+ arrow is dramatic yes, however even a 350grn arrow requires good range estimation, anfd the difference between trajectories doesn't compensate enough to help you in any ay, however we all can benefit from quietness, durability and additional punch down range:)

I shoot G5 Montecs (125gr) with 2216 bolts and 4" duravanes,for a total weight of about 452grs @307fps..they fly just like my target points, and seem to be very accurate
