Bob,
I don't think there will be any problem, but how big is the rock?, and did you position it right over where your head will be??????
I've noticed the zippers used on blinds aren't always the greatest of quality. I had to do some serious lubrication on one zipper on the brand new blind I bought this year. It de-railed the first time I tried to zip it up, but some bowstring wax (it was handy  ) cured the problem.
Now don't forget to remove the poles before you try to fold the blind. (yep, someone can be that dumb, but if you snap one right next to the ferrule you can cut it off square & duct tape it back.)
BTW - my old blind has real "character". One door sewed shut with bowstring material laced over the zipper, and one pole duct taped together!

Blind zipper

Post by Bobber54 »

I have a similiar problem. The zipper on mine closes, but won't open. It makes for an interesting exit, in the dark. I have to yank on each side to get it to go up. Now if we could find a zipper expet somewhere.

If the blind is freestanding, it might be quieter to tip it over yourself to get in than to use the zippers.

Broken fibreglass poles are a pain. In the past when my camping tents were damaged in the wind I've used duct-tape, and splinted with branches. Now I keep fibreglass poles and the metal connecting sleeves from old tents. The sleeves are easy to carry and make a quick fix over a bent or broken pole. Don't have to cut the elastic - just slip it over from one end and let the elastic overlap. Places like Wal-Mart, Cdn Tire and KW Surplus also sell replacement poles. Depending on the blind it might be worth replacing the fibreglass poles with aluminium.
