Never saw this before

I was in a blind and was watching 6 jakes walking in the woods about 100 yds away. They crossed a dirt road and behind them 2 bucks came and stood there. 2 of the jakes turned and started putting at them, face to face [about 10 ft from them] It looked like they were telling the bucks not to follow them. After about 15 seconds, the 2 bucks turned away and went back into the woods. They never knew I was there. Is this strange?

I dont know if this is the same condition or not? But growing up in ohio in the evan years when the mash was thin those old fox squirls learned to lisen to the chipmonks and bluejayes and if they were going off those old sqacks would stay hidden????
