18 in diablo arrows
Can anyone tell me what the weight of th 18 inch diablo arrow that comes with the excal Matrix 380 weighs, just the arrow,no tip included.Im trying to figure out which broadhead to use,but want to make sure my total arrow weight stays above 350grs.I see the matrix ships with 150gr field points, but surely you can use a 125gr head to.Not to many options to choose from if your stuck with just 150gr broadheads

Re: 18 in diablo arrows
yup 250 gr arra only ,by time i ad my 150 gr = 418 gr .Id like to get a 450 to 500 gr .I like a lot of ke .May not be fast but it sure will knock a deer over.
I know ideally they test with 350 gr bolt ready to shoot. There is nothing written that you cant go heavier .I like heavy tree logs to shoot deer with .
Its not for everyone though,
Dont use my numbers ,just for me only .I dont want to step on any ones toes .
In all what ever you shoot .make it count .
I do shoot a 125 grain fp practice ,but my 150gr bolt cutters do good out to 40 yds identical hole hit .

Re: 18 in diablo arrows
just weighed 4 of my diablos with the so called 150gn fp and 2" vains and they were,
398.5
399.0
398.5
399.0
all 4 field points came in at 148.0 to 149.0, I could weigh the other 6 arrows but i'm sure they would weigh about the same.

Other 6 Diablos
397.5 fp alone is 149.0
396.5 fp alone is 147.5
397.5 fp alone is 148.5
398.0 fp alone is 149.0
396.0 fp alone is 147.0
391.5 the fp alone weighed 141.5
I will just round up all 10 Diablos with 2" vains and 150(cough cough) fp to 400gn each being 1gn up will not make a difference.

Re: 18 in diablo arrows
I do not want to get into arrows-field points and broadheads like I did with my Vert bows last 30 years, i'll just end up with so many arrows and such they will just sit around so for me with crossbows i'll stay with what came with the bow or what I ordered with the bow and keep it simple.
Would I like to increase the arrow weight on some of my bows YES but I'm tring to leave well enough alone this time out in my adventures.

Re: 18 in diablo arrows
I find it kinda funny excalibur advertises the 380 FPS with a 350gr arrow, then ships the bow with 4 400gr total weight arrows.LOL With that said,do you think it'll be fine to shoot 125gr broadheads?

Re: 18 in diablo arrows
On the subject of finding it funny that Excalibur mentions 350 gr total bolt weight and sends 400 gr with package. 350 gr is the suggested minimum weight only and from there it is each individual archers choice what he choses for weight. Read manual arrow weights and speed.

Re: 18 in diablo arrows
You can shot 100gr heads if you want. Excalibur provides 150gr heads because a higher FOC is proven to improve arrow flight, especially at longer distances. They could provide you with 100gr heads but maybe it's like they want your Excalibur experience to be more than fps (I'm not on the payroll ). If you want to talk about hype all you have to do is read and understand the IBO speed ratings for compound bows. Guys buy a 60#, 28" draw compound and expect to get 360 fps out of it because the manufacturer says IBO speed is 360 fps. A new archer doesn't know that IBO ratings are based on a draw of 70# at 30" with a 350gr arrow. Even if that criteria is met, the probability of getting the advertised speed in lower than low. Excalibur speeds are honest and achievable speeds and in fact likely to exceed expectations.
