Crankaroo help please!

Hi, I recently acquired an older style Crankaroo to use with my old Exocet. It's the really old model with the safety on the side of the trigger housing instead of the back. When I drilled the hole in the stock and tried the crankaroo out, the hooks would engage the safety as they slid back, just before the string could lock itself into place. On these older bows, the safety has to be off for the string to lock into place and as it locks in place the safety is automatically engaged. Anyhow, does anyone know of a way to make the crankaroo work with this old bow, or should I just post it in the For Sale section? ( I don't really need a crank yet, just planning for my old age . Thanks in advance.
