I've decided to stick with the string that came with the bow. I do plan on upgrading to a Boo string later, for now I'm content to follow his advice for newbies.
Boo wrote: An important note to you guys who are new to crossbows. Dry-fires are more likely in the beginning of the learning curve. It is a real possibility and can likely result in damage to your bow if you are using a Dynaflight, Fast Flight or Boo string. Do yourself a favor and get a back up string like the one that came with the bow and take a year to 6 months to make it second nature to put an arrow in your bow and double check that it is there and seated properly. As I said earlier an STS I believe will help as well to protect your limbs and will definitely lower noise and shock.

I really like the Excal excel string that came with the Vortex. I think I have broke it in. I went to the range Thursday after giving it 12 twists to tighten it back up. The time before at the range I was consistantly shooting 5 inches low when I knew I was shooting dead on at 40 yds the time before. I checked the height and it was off. After fixing it I was shooting 1" pattern at 20 yds and through the back of the static target over and over. Feeling very good I went home wondering if the tenson and brace height would last or if I would need to tighten it again? I plan on buying an Excal fast flight string for a replacement. But really wondering why when this one works so well. Not sure the difference other than price. Can anyone help?

Ok thats a great idea. This forum is awesome for helping folks out. Thanks Boo!Boo wrote:It will eventually stop creeping so much. Do yourself a favor and put a white paint dot on the side of the rail where you like the brace height. That way you can quickly and accurately check your brace height.
