Important warning *******dangerous crossbow product.
Hey All:
My son bought an Excal Exomax from a dealer in Southern Ontario last August.
The dealer threw a Cocking aid in on the deal NOT Excalibur make.
It has about 40 to 50 cocks on it.
He went to check the sighting on his bow and do some recreational target practice the other day.
This "knock off", that looks very similar to an Excalibur cocking aid flew off the string and came back and hit him in the sunglasses breaking them. He normally does not wear glasses however luckily it was a sunny day.
IT DID NOT BREAK, the plastic was weak enough that the hooks opened up enough for the string to let go and the plastic hooks flew back and hit him in the face.
He said it felt like he was punched.
Taking it back for them to look at.
At about 3/4 draw you can see the hooks start to open.
BE CAREFUL and check yours so somebody doesn't lose an eye.
BTW looking for a genuine Excal cocking device. (Seriously we are but we'll buy one at a dealer).

Which is why I always wear safety glasses just like I do with my rifle. Glad he is not badly hurt and walks away with his eyesight in both eyes.

I am glad that your son is okay. I wear normal glasses but I have never worn safety glasses, I keep hearing about accidents that happen all the time and I would not want to lose any of my vision, it is bad enough as it is. Is there any shooting glasses or safety glasses that you can wear over top of your regular eye wear while shooting a crossbow that are comfortable that doesn't seem like you have a set of goggles on your face?
Thanks,
Raymond

Dang! That could have turned out much worse than it did. Good to hear your boy was not seriously hurt. Thanks for the heads up.
Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

I have seen a some aftermarket ones that looked almost identical to the Excal brand.

Glad your son is ok! Lot of people don't realize the dangers of cocking the bow. Some of the rope cockers out there are inferiror, the Excal rope cockers are very sturdy.
