Re: Leupold scope question
Anything in the Leupold line with the VXIII and the VXR being my favorites. But even the "lowly" shotgun scope is better than any standard scope that comes on any crossbow manufacturer and great value as well. Get something near the 2X7 range.

Re: Leupold scope question
I feel a Leupold 2-7x33mm shotgun scope is ideal for any and all Excalibur's, but just about any Leupold will work within reason considering power and objective size.
I bought mine lightly used for $120 off an auction site. Leupold carry a full lifetime warranty. If you choose a 1" scope tube then Leupold's rifleman detachable low rings are perfect.
I have my Leupold set on 4x and it's low light gathering characteristics are superb.

Re: Leupold scope question
Crossbones low light gathering is fantastic, it's a 2-7x uses the power ring as a speed ring same as the excal vari-zone, range marks out to 60 yd. The marks are o the fine side, the leupold UltimateSlam 2-7x33mm for muzzleloaders and shotguns is vary similar has the Sabot Ballistics Reticle might work nice also.
They are forever scopes, buy one and done

Re: Leupold scope question
I use the VX1 2-7 x 33 with the heavy duplex reticle on my Phoenix.
Set on about 3X I can use the top & bottom duplex "posts" (thick/thin junction) for ± 10 yard aiming points. I sight in at 25 yards and the arrow is in the kill zone from 0-30 yards when using the crosshair, so I seldom use the duplex post when hunting. (In other words - with the crosshair sighted dead on at 25 yards the top duplex junction is dead on at 15 yards and the bottom at 35 yards with the scope set on 3X.)
Thinking of trying my new VX2 1-4 x 20 on the Phoenix.
I got the VX2 when I sent an old (39years old) 4X fixed power scope to Leupold for repair. They couldn't fix it and were out of fixed power scopes so they sent me the VX2 as a replacement. I could have picked any Leupold scope and they would have given me a credit for a less expensive scope or let me pay the difference for a more expensive scope. The VX2 had the same suggested retail price ($374.99). All it cost me was a phone call and postage to send the old scope to them. Can't beat that for a warranty!

I Love My Crossbones Scope on the 355.
Everything lines up perfectly, all the way out to 60 yd. mark. Beautiful clarity! The Scope Loves fast arrow speeds, like 330 fps or better. I would not trade it for anything.

John, which one do you have? It looks like there are 2 reticles with different skew numbers but the reticles look the same.Big John wrote:I Love My Crossbones Scope on the 355.

Re: Leupold scope question
I have a 2X7 I got from Danny Miller a couple of years ago.
I used to have to check my scope and recheck it because it would be off one way or the other all the time.
The Leupold is awesome, I zero'd it once and it's been perfect since.

That looks nice on there..........
I just may put my new VX-2 1-4x20 on my Phoenix and the old 2-7x33 on the muzzleloader.

Re: Leupold scope question
I am shooting a VX-R firedot with regular single crosshairs. Anything within 23 yards is almost dead on (within and inch or so high or low) I just put the little firedot in the kill zone and pull the trigger. Great unit.Cheers
