Afraid to ask......
I'm afraid to ask 'cause it will probably end up costing me a fair chunk of money......now that I am new into the world of crossbows, what upgrades/accessories/options would you suggest for my Matrix 330?
Waiting to see the pricing on the drstirrup stuff.

Re: Afraid to ask......
Depending on your budget, I'd do this:
-Leupold scope (I like the VXR and Mark AR Mod-1)
-black eagle arrows (I prefer Zombies)
-Trigger Tech Trigger (I like the dual stage)
-Boo string (Force-10s for me)
-Ti.64 titanium fasteners
-Danny Miller bumpers
None of this stuff is needed though, the kit is equipped just fine. If your bow is new to you shoot it the way it is and you'll figure out your preferences.

Re: Afraid to ask......
My Matrix 330 is a tack driver at 60 yards with the Tact-Zone scope and Big John Custom Arrows.
I have installed and would recommend....
1. ADF to allow you to use custom flemish strings.
2. Custom arrows from Big John - they fly like darts with radar.
3. Cheek rest for comfort.
4. A Caldwell bench rest or sand bags to shoot from while sighting in.
(I used a couple boat cushions until I could afford a bench rest)
You really don't need to upgrade much as your bow should be ready to shoot out of the box and accurate enough for hunting with the arrows that come with it.

Being Your "New"
So you should consider some as suggested before
Definitely a A.D.F. anti dryfire $80.00
Plus - R.E.D.S. $70.00
Stringing aid for sure if you do not already have one $35.00
Matching Check Plate $45.00
*** Range Finder can come in pretty handy. There are some pretty good models available at reasonable prices today.
I found in my experience that the stock string for the Matrix 330 gave similar speeds to a custom flemish.
The nice thing about a BOO custom flemish string however is the colour selection plus much less string creep.
NOTE: Whatever you choose it is best to have two of them of the same make and be sure they are both broken in and ready to go .

Re: Afraid to ask......
What is/are REDS?
Have the string aid, and a good rangefinder.
So do I have to install the ADF to you the custom strings? If so, how does one install that? Where do you get that device?

The Bow Shop in Waterloo I suspect would carry or get everything you need.Reinyrooster wrote:What is/are REDS?

See column on left of main page and go to accessories section to see the REDS,
ADF, Cheek Plate.
ADF is easying to install as are most accessories are easy DIY.
Would think the Bow Shop could help you out in that department as well
PLUS PLUS CONSIDERING you live in Kitchener the home of Excalibur all Excalibur supplies should be easy to get . Even a visit or call to Dawn Excalibur could would be the best plan as place to begin from.

Re: Afraid to ask......
The ADF is simply what the name is...'Anti Dry Fire' mechanism. If you don't have an arrow loaded it prevents the launch of the string by catching it just in front of the jaws. Installing it is easy peasy only requiring N allen wrench. You simply remove your scope and rings from the picatinny rail, remove the stock picatinny rail from the trigger unit, mount the new picatinny rail with the built in ADF in it's place and reattach your scope. Done...easy peasy! The ADF has nothing to do with the type of string you have.

Not sure what I have posted in response to Reinyrooster inquiry that warrants this response.bubba wrote:colouredchameleon wrote:Reinyrooster wrote:What is/are REDS?

What is your issue? colored what ever? Most of your post's are/ .brf.jlcf'ty54n ///??? Some have backed off their post's of you, but i just have to ask.. What is your thinking? Am i the only member that, draws a blank?
Maybe you did not read it all or you have something against The Bowshop an Excalibur dealer in Reinyrooster home town.
Is it a tabu place to shop for Excalibur products.????
I apologize Reinyrooster you may want to disregard my previous post because it appears according to bubba I have some how unknowingly mislead you in some way.
Or maybe bubba takes issue with me mentioning a Boo custom string as an option.
All I know Reinyrooster is that of my experience with the Matrix 330 and what worked best for me.
Enjoy

Re: Afraid to ask......
I would suggest first purchase is a string adjusting device (rope), followed by the ADF , and I'd forget the REDS and get a set of Danny Miller"s "Baby bumpers." ( feel they are superior to the Reds and cost about half as much. )
I Know Danny Miller makes a very nice string device which I imagine is priced too low knowing Danny. He can get you the ADF for right at $55 and his Baby Bumpers go for $25 You'll save alot of $ by contatcing Danny Miller who also happens to be a Excalibur rep. and warranty guy here in the US for Excalibur.
Welcome to the forum and rest assured you picked a "winner" when you chose a 330.

Re: Afraid to ask......
Since you are in Ontario don't call Danny Miller... Talk to Boo.
Ask Boo about the Danny Miller bumpers instead of the R.E.D.S. about 1/2 the price.
The ADF is simple enough to install and is recommended for custom flemish strings as it will protect you and your limbs.
Once you reach 10 posts you can send Boo a pm about the Bumpers
Ron.
