I saw it walking in from bowhunting yesterday evening. I'm in E.Cent.IL so it came pretty far south. I didn't see any green like in the above pic, but ours was pink and massive, covering a large arc in the northern skies.
It was like a curtain on a stage, and moved in waves from right to left and back. I've only seen the Aurora a couple of times, and that was last year. This was the best display I've ever seen.
That is beautiful. I spent some time in Northern Norway while in the military and had the joy of seeing the lights. They are spectacular. I wish they reached as far as Ohio.
We saw em last night. was pretty good show. The best I have ssen is flying up on the Hudson's Bay coast at night. Trips up to Fort Severn were always spectacular in the winter.
Yes I saw them last night too! I was watching them on my way back home, and when I got home I grabbed the wife (well not literally ) and the kids and we went to the country away from the streetlights. I can only remember seeing them this brilliant once before, aside from moose camp in Thunder Bay.
I've been out a couple of times tonight but haven't seen a repeat of last night yet. I missed them completely but several people at work were talking about them.
Those photos are beautiful. I seriously think you should look into selling them to a stock photo company.
I don't sell them professionally (I've sold many when people ask) but one will be in my local paper and since I work for an astronomy magazine, one will likely make it's way into print there.
