Durn ticks will drop off as the carcass cools. The rest are wantin to eat as in yellow jackets, flies want to lay eggs n the maggots feed. Durin hot weather kills i field dress right then. I bring to cabin n hook up our big fan set it close to blow the insects off while i skin & bone meat out fast as i can. I will cut it up later after it chills down good in the freezer

Re: Good Start to 2019
I do this as well. Gut it in the field, and get it home and hang it up and skin it and get the meat off quickly and into my refrigerator. 1) hand deer head down
2) skin out the deer remove the head
3) remove each front leg - into the fridge whole
4) remove backstraps- into the fridge whole
5) remove inside tenderlions - - into the fridge whole to be smoked in a day or so.
6) remove 3 roasts from each hind qtr - - into the fridge whole
7) pick carcass as you desire - all this goes into a pot that goes in the fridge then gets ground along with the front legs and maybe some of the roasts
After a few days I vacuum seal
