Walking in light

Walking in light
I’ve been going into my stand mornings recently and it’s been bugging me to use a white or red light. So after much putzing around, I found these little gems. It’s a focused light, not very bright, cheap and small. I’m sure you can get them cheaper but i paid $11 for 6 of them. I hold it between my lips or in my hand and I can easily choke the amount of light down. Apparently green does not spook game.

Not in your lips in case you trip , choke and swallow it. Shut off the bathroom light next trip around.

But Boo...I've been using a green light for years to get to and from my stand. Hand held of course!!!
They do not spook game. We use them to hog hunt with.

My head lamp has both normal light and green light.
The green light is all I use. I also read somewhere that green light doesn’t spook them or they can’t see it, something like that.

X2 walked up on a hog bow range and he never spooked. The little flashlight I have is bright too. Hog I guess couldnt hear me because he was crunching corn. Not sure but it worked like a champ. I buy them (have several) on ebay, they are Ultrafire brand, a Chinese knockoff of Surefire, they are about 10 bucks to your door, and have lasted well. Run on 123 Lithium batteries or a 18650 rechargeable.
Re: Walking in light
I’ve always been paranoid of bright green lights.

I use a Coast Headlamp, it's got three stages on the regular light, the other option is Red, works great and does not seem to spoke to deer.

Re: Walking in light
Green seems to be brighter at night than even standard white light to me. Our outside cats dont appear to see it. I have turned it on many times sitting there inconspicuously and they dont realize it. I have that same style squeeze light on my key ring for night use.

Yeppers! I have the same light, actually a couple of them. I have one attached to my bow (for hogs at night), and I have one in my truck. Plus I have a standard white light with "pressure pad" that I have mounted on an AR pistol!! These things are very bright for what they are!! Not on par with the rechargeable Stinger made by Streamlight, that I keep by the bed, but pretty darn close and a WHOLE lot cheaper!! A new bulb for my Stinger cost what one of these lights cost.flightattendant100 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 04, 2020 4:17 pmX2 walked up on a hog bow range and he never spooked. And...the batteries in these hold a good charge!!
Anyone looking for a good cheap light, then these are hard to beat!!

X2,I have 2 in green,( one for me one for kid) one in red, one in white. Sure nice lights for 10 bucks. I have a Fenix 35 and a Fenix 55 I think that I use everyday at work, and I would and do trust more than these, but all in all a real bargain.AJ01 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 6:06 amYeppers! Re: Walking in light
One thing that I have noticed about the green light. It seems to lessen depth perception. If you are in rough or rocky terrain, it might not be best. Would be pretty easy to take a tumble. But with these being bright I can see without any problems at all.

What are those little lights called Don and where did you find them?

Robert, there are screws holding it together and you know how cheap button batteries are. I think they are just the right amount of light for what I'm doing. While I understand that the green doesn't spook the game, I can't help but think deer see a bright green light moving. Never give away your location right?

I paid $10.99 for 6 of them but I'm betting they much less in the US.

Re: Walking in light
Most of the time I just use the white.
Well established trails to all stands and knowledge of locations, allows me to just shine light directly on the ground 3 to 5 ft ahead of my line of travel.
Since the majority of hunting season have an overhead moon or dawn light. Often dont ever need a light.
Of the other 2 options , I'd choose green over red. A bit brighter for my vision .
But for an illuminated scope , I prefer the red reticle or dot system

Re: Walking in light
I have a green one and a white one but I always use the white one on the flashing mode . there was a shot that was real close I was hunting on private land and did not expect it and did not know where he was so when I came out it was flashing . I would rather be safe than sorry it never made a diff. going in in the morning.
