Sorry to read that, glad you have options at least.

Re: Arizona draw
Elk tags in Arizona are a coveted commodity!! Sorry about your luck.
I put in every year for the Big Horn Sheep hunt here in Texas.
It's a 'once in a lifetime" tag. Only one (1) is issued each year. Last year over 5,000 people put in for that tag.
It really is winning the lottery!!

Sorry to hear that you were passed over. On the bright side, at least you know where you stand. You can make other plans. I can't even find out when I can enter our draw! Likely the beginning of May, with entries in by month's end!
If I don't get drawn for elk this year, I might just have to hunt deer. It's not that deer hunting is bad, it's just way down on my preferences.

Makes my trips to back east a lot easier to go whenever I want. Now I can go in sept. Hit the bass season and musky season.
Kinda wonder how many more times one can say " there's always next yr. "
Specially when your past 1/2 way down the backside.

Chris...You my friend are wise beyond your years!!!
The time to start enjoying the "second half" of your life is well BEFORE you realize that there will one day a "tipping point" in your life. . I figured out early in life I didn't want to be one of "those guys" who sat around as an old man and said "Boy, I wish I would have..."

My retirement date is July 1st because I don't ever want to be seen as one of those guys who goes to work everyday as a hobby.

Norm...I worked with some guys that spent 40 plus years on the job. They could have retired at least a decade before they did. They finally retired, went home, sat on their collective butts and DIED within 5 years AFTER they retired!! Made NO SENSE to me!!
People as me, "Do you miss it". My answer is always the same..."NO".
BTW....I hope you have a WONDERFUL retirement party on the 3rd!!!!!

Re: Arizona draw
A deer is beginning to be a pain in the a$$ to deal with definitely not into anything bigger approaching the size of a horse..... plus a whitetail is a smaller target my favorite season is coming... turkey hunting with a crossbow is the ultimate challenge and it's warm n cozy in the doghouse and when l connect l sling the 20+ pounder over my back and just walk out. I'm getting lazy and crotichy in my old age not into all day drags with elk and bear .... did it was awsome I'm done.
I hope you get your tag wish one day!

Re: Arizona draw
I could apply for easier draw hunts. But I really want 1 more chance at archery hunting a big bull elk !
Figure they owe me an antelope tag since I've been waiting way to long.
I retired at 60 so 7 yrs ago.
I spent 38yrs as a heavy equipment operator here in Phoenix, AZ.
I do kinda miss running some equipment but I don't miss working for young dumbasses.
