2023 NW Oklahoma Fall Tom
The Stryker Offspring strikes again!!!
I accomplished one of my hunting goals this afternoon. I was on the way back to my deer stand and heard turkeys clucking in a grove of trees on the south bank of the river that runs through the property. I did about a 100 yard sneak through tall grass, and when I finally got to where I could see the birds, they were still about 70 yards away. I practice on targets out to 40 yards, but I try to keep my shots on animals around 30. There was about 25 yards of grass I mowed a few weeks ago that had started to grow back, and past that was short grass up to a little wash. I belly crawled up to the wash, and the birds were getting nervous. I left my rangefinder in the Ranger, so I Kentucky windaged the distance and took the shot. He dropped like a rock.
The other birds just milled around, and the other tom in the group went over to beat my bird about the head, neck, and ears. I really didn’t want to spook them, so I waited until they wandered off to go get him. It ended up the shot was 36 yards.
He weighed 23 lbs and has a 9.75” beard.

That looks like Thanksgiving dinner! Is that an Eastern, Merriam's or Rio Grande? Beautiful bird whichever it is.

Congratulations! You are indeed on a killing spree! You're making me thing about breaking my Offspring out too! Togethe with the Katana, they are one of the best compound crossbows ever made.

I started in crossbows with an Exomax and was totally against compound crossbows, but I made the mistake of calling Danny Miller in about 2018. He told me about the Offspring, and I decided to try one. I still love my Exomax, Ibex, and Micro 335, but dang, that Offspring is quiet and SO SMOOTH.

And so easy to cock! The bows didn't sell well because of poor marketing. I recently checked with Peter and they still have limbs and cams.retrieverman wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 12:41 pmI started in crossbows with an Exomax and was totally against compound crossbows, but I made the mistake of calling Danny Miller in about 2018. Yes sir, there’s a one tom limit, but even if there wasn’t, there was no way I could’ve recocked my crossbow laying on my stomach on the ground. If I had stood up, the rest of the birds would’ve been gone.IronNoggin wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 5:16 pmCongrats!
